Hit my irons well today, finally got back to turning away from the ball and made for much more crisp contact. Played the front nine great - 2 lipouts from shooting 3 over on the front. EAGLED 6 - finally. It's a short par 5 that is a definite birdie hole and gives a good shot at eagle. I hit my 6 iron to 3 feet and dropped the putt for a 3. Back nine was another story. 2 quick penalty strokes put me at 4 over through the first four holes but I was only +5 on the back through 15, and looking at a career round (my low all time is 84; shot an 82 once also but was playing 2 balls in a practice round, so I didn't know if that counted...). Then the blowup hole. I'd had one on the front, but overcame it with 3 pars, the eagle and nothing else over bogey. 16 ate me up. Without 16, I shoot 12 over on the day, easily my best round in years. With 16, I shoot 17 over, a normal round... Can't discount the rest of the day, but that hole really got to me...
